Uniting departments to create a seamless digital experience for users

Washington University in St. Louis (known as WashU) is dedicated to creating a supportive environment where its students, faculty, and staff can excel. At the heart of this mission is University Services, a unified group of ten essential departments responsible for the foundational operations that power the daily life of the campus community.

Previously, information about these critical services was spread across numerous websites, leading to a fragmented digital presence, significant content duplication, and a general under-awareness of the University Services brand. This lack of a cohesive identity created frustration and confusion for community members trying to navigate vital tasks.

To address these challenges, University Services embarked on a strategic initiative to reimagine its digital front door. The primary goal was to elevate its professional and customer-service orientation by creating a seamless “one-stop-shop” experience. This required a powerful new digital platform, built on a modern and easy-to-update CMS, that could create a better user experience (UX) and provide seamless navigation for any visitor’s needs.

The result is a unified and intuitive digital hub that establishes University Services as a clear, accessible, and customer-focused resource. By consolidating information and streamlining navigation, the new platform eliminates user frustration, solidifies the brand, and ensures the entire WashU community can easily find the support needed, reinforcing the university’s commitment to an exceptional campus experience.
