Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service 2022
Our Core Focus
Spry Digital’s core focus includes giving back to our community and making an impact. One way we do this as a team is through a day of service. We have chosen Martin Luther King Jr. Day as our day of service because we believe it is important to honor the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his impact on our culture. Here are a couple of things we are doing this year.
Focusing on Voting Rights
Martin Luther King Jr.’s family will use January 17, 2022, to push for Congress to pass voting rights legislation. In support of this, we are encouraging our team and you to do one of the following:
- Spend time on the 17th learning more about federal voting laws, as well as your state and local voting laws. Spry Digital is hosting a virtual talk with Nancy Price, Board Member of the League of Women Voters of Metro St. Louis, on voting rights, voter suppression, and how you can take action to support voting rights. Register here.
- Contact your elected officials about voting rights. Use the resources below to find out who represents you and how to reach them.
- Use your voice and network to educate others about voting rights and the importance of passing voting rights legislation.
- Consider engaging in some of these upcoming events to recognize the day.
- UMSL is hosting “Embracing the Dream in a Season of Uncertainty” on January 17, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. streaming from the Blanche Touhill Performing Arts.
- The St. Louis Art Museum is hosting an all-day, virtual event called “Freedom Celebration: Joy as an Act of Resistance” on January 17.
- One of our clients, Washington University in St. Louis, is hosting a virtual commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on January 17 at 7 p.m.
Giving Blood
The American Red Cross has a dangerously low supply of blood (lowest in 10 years). If you are eligible, please consider signing up and donating blood on January 17 or another day that your schedule allows.
There are many ways to honor Martin Luther King Jr. and his legacy. Let us know how you are commemorating his day and making an impact in your community.
