Girls on the Run St. Louis

Girls on the Run’s mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum. Teams are paired with coaches who teach valuable life skills over a 24-lesson curriculum that culminates with a 5K run at the end of each season.

Girls on the Run St. Louis came to Spry for a new website integrated with a constituent management system. The goal of the redesign was to create a presence for their local chapter that would be fun, energetic and engaging for audiences of all ages. With a strong social media presence, the website integrates GOTRSTL’s Instagram and Twitter feeds to bring the enthusiasm and energy of the runs and public events into the website.

The website was built on the Drupal content management system using the Zurb Foundation front-end framework, with CiviCRM powering donations, events, and constituent management. Main areas of the website include prominent calls-to-action to register, volunteer and donate, a resources area called the Coaches Corner, and a search feature to locate one of the 200 local GOTR locations.

Since launching, the St. Louis chapter’s new website has dramatically improved the process of publishing content which resulted in significant impacts with user engagement. In the first 60 days following launch, page views increased 82%, duration on the site increased 71%, and the bounce rate dropped by 43%. As Maggie Siemer, Operations Director for Girls on the Run St. Louis puts it, They really understood what we were saying about our users and the way that people use our site, and then they put together this design that was perfect”
